Women are less likely than men to feel chest pain during a heart attack, so their diagnosis often gets delayed, leading to more heart damage. Women are more likely than men to experience symptoms that aren’t “typical,” such as nausea, back and abdominal pain and aching chest pain.

Dr. Larson is a General Internist, Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington and Director of Group Health Cooperatives' Center for Health Studies.

Dr. Larson will share his knowledge of Learning Healthcare Systems - a concept developed in recent IOM reports. He will illustrate some of the work he has participated in at Group Health that demonstrates examples of Learning Healthcare Systems working in specific areas.
